Life and Yosemite

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 |

Life has been busy these days, so much so that its been difficult to be faithful with my blog. I guess busy is a good thing. Actually part of the time I went camping in Yosemite. I loved it. This was the first time I went at this time of year. The waterfalls were so full which was nice to see. A few of us hiked to the top of Yosemite falls. It took four hours to reach the top and two to get down. It was a tiring hike. The way up is a continual ascent with no flat stretches. On the way up when we where almost at the top a storm rolled in. It started raining and hailing with lighting and thunder. Not cool. We made it to the top though. The summit was a very unfriendly environment due to the storm. The winds were extremely powerful, so powerful that we decided not to venture to close to the edge. By the time you get down the mountain your so glad its over, although you feel quite victorious. It was quite the adventure. Whats amazing is the wide swath of people you see doing the hike from kids to elderly. Its not an easy climb either.

Longest English Word

Go ahead, see if you can read it: Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. you can see if you read it right here.

If you got that one right, you can now advance to the next level and become the new slum dog millionaire. Its a Greek word. Good luck reading it, you’ll need it. Hehe. Here is:

Lopadotemakhoselakhogaleokranioleipsanodrimhypotrimmatosilphiokarabomelitokatakekhymenokikhlepikossyphophattoperisteralektryonoptokephalliokigklopeleiolagōiosiraiobaphētraganopterýgōn.

2 year olds

Today I handed Violet a new case to put her Polly Pockets in. Excited and eager to use her rapidly expanding vocabulary, although not always sure how to use the new catch phrases that she hears, instead of the normal “yay” and “Thank you, daddy. It’s so nice.” her response today was a quick, wide eyed glance at the case and: “IT’S A MIRACLE!”

Merry Christmas

Thursday, December 25th, 2008 |

…to all of you! Christmas day and its eve has been a lot of fun. On Christmas eve we opened stockings and watched some old videos clips of some of our past Christmases. They where embarrassing and funny. On Christmas day we had a gourmet brunch with almost every sort of scrumptious breakfast food you heart can desire. We also had a gourmet coffee bar. I look forward to coffee on Christmas all year. Seeing the joy on your kids face at Christmas is a high light (at least for me it has been.) I watched as the kids opened up their presents today, it was a very exciting moment. I got a “comfy” (what an utterly silly word) pair of sweat pants. I also got a few tools (very, very cool by the way.) Aside from all the hubbub of the day I found myself asleep on the couch mid day…I must be tired.

The Baby?

Friday, October 17th, 2008 |

For all those waiting to hear if Nadia has had the baby…keep waiting. That’s what I’m doing, as well as Nadia. I imagine it will be soon, Nadia imagines it will be soon, but alas, its not up to us. What else can I say. Please pray that when it does happen, it will go smoothly and for good health for baby and mommy.
